Designed by Kaare Klint and produced by Le Klint in the 1940s, the “Kip-Lamp” lamps bear witness to one of the most recognizable seasons of postwar Danish design. The black lacquered metal frame develops a continuous, light line, accompanied by the presence of the brass sphere that interrupts the composition with a discreet sculptural accent. The central stem also serves to direct the light. The pleated lampshades made of hand-folded paper, a distinctive element of Le Klint’s production, diffuse a soft, even light and tell the story of Denmark’s long tradition of craftsmanship related to papermaking. The ensemble combines modernist rigor and domestic sensibility in a design that has become iconic in the history of 20th-century Scandinavian lighting. Good condition. May show some signs of time.
