Pair of “Ingrid” model armchairs, designed by Bruno Mathsson and produced by Dux in the 1960s. The design reflects the Swedish designer’s approach to functionality and comfort through the use of light and flexible structures. The structure is made of curved and laminated beech wood, processed to achieve soft, continuous lines that define armrests and frame in a single formal gesture. This construction technique, typical of the Scandinavian tradition, makes it possible to combine structural strength and visual elasticity. The seating system consists of visible elastic straps, complemented by a green-colored canvas back panel, a functional element that contributes to the support of the cushions and the overall stability of the seat. This construction solution, typical of Mathsson’s research, highlights the focus on ergonomics and structural lightness. The cushions, upholstered and quilted with buttons, are covered with the original red wool fabric and lean freely against the structure, creating a balance between support and softness. Dux production, Sweden, 1960s. Good condition. They may show signs of time. Please refer to the photographs.
