The model “Z” armchair designed by Bengt Ruda for Nordiska Kompaniet in the 1960s is an emblematic example of the most rigorous Scandinavian modernism. The side structure, which draws a sharp broken line to form a “Z,” defines the entire identity of the design: a strong, almost architectural graphic sign that supports the seat and back with dynamic balance. The sloping profile accentuates the relaxed posture, while the integrated armrests continue fluidly into the supporting structure, emphasizing the formal unity of the piece.
