Armchair model “244” designed by Axel Larsson for Bodafors in 1947, during the transitional period in which the designer helped ferry Swedish design from the Nordic Classicism of the 1930s to the more essential language of Scandinavian modernism. The frame is made of beech, while the seat and back are made of shaped teak. The design emphasizes a balance between rigor and softness of form: the open frame visually lightens the armchair, while the calibrated proportions and inclination of the legs define a stable and comfortable seat. Particularly interesting is the construction detail of the laminated arm ends, an element that recalls the tradition of Swedish cabinetmaking and emphasizes the attention to quality craftsmanship typical of Bodafors production. Good condition. May show some signs of aging. Please pay attention to the photographs.
