Rare Scandinavian bar cabinet from the 1960s attributed to Kurt Østervig, a central figure of Danish modernism known for elegant, measured design that was always oriented toward quality construction and functionality. The cabinet is veneered in teak, with warm, regular grain, and rests on tapered legs that visually lighten the volume.
The characteristic horizontal roll closure conceals an articulated and sophisticated interior: a section with mirrored walls and a worked glass shelf designed to enhance bottles and glasses, flanked by a compartment with small cutlery drawers and small shelves for objects. An original, working lighting element is present. Brass handles introduce a delicate textural contrast with teak. Østervig, active mainly between the 1950s and 1960s, is prized for his ability to combine formal rigor and careful craftsmanship, making his furniture particularly sought after by collectors.
