Swedish oak chest of drawers produced in the 1960s by String Design AB, a company founded in Stockholm in 1949 and famous for its “String” modular system, an icon of Scandinavian modernism. Alongside modular shelving, the production included furniture with essential and functional lines, such as this model with compact proportions. The four drawers are enhanced by carved handles with a geometric profile, integrated into the front, while the slightly tapered legs lighten the structure, giving it momentum. Present is the original manufacturer’s label on the inside, a detail that attests to its authenticity. The whole reflects the build quality and restraint typical of Swedish design of the period.
