The contrast between the clear essentiality of the structure and the warm depth of the drawers emphasizes the rational and material approach of the design. The design is massive and classic, with compact volumes and a solid base that lends visual stability and a sense of solidity. The cone-shaped carved handles, turned directly into the wood, emerge as small plastic elements. B\u00f8rge Mogensen was one of the leading exponents of postwar Danish modernism. Trained at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and a collaborator with Kaare Klint, he developed a conception of design based on functionality, proportion, and durability.
