Rocking chair designed in the 1940s by Yngve Ekstr\u00f6m for ESE M\u00f6bler, a Swedish company founded by Ekstr\u00f6m himself with his brother Jerker. The curved beech frame draws a continuous, light profile with arched armrests that accompany the movement of the skates, expressing a refined synthesis of technique and form. The seat and back are made with a textile ribbon weave, probably a cotton or mixed fiber webbing, typical of Scandinavian production of the period. The fabric is in excellent condition and enhances the graphic texture of the weave. Yngve Ekstr\u00f6m was a central figure in Swedish modernism: his work is based on the idea of democratic, functional and affordable furniture that combines comfort, quality craftsmanship and industrial production.
